Step Down Transformer, 2 KVA
The Bluebird Step Down Transformer (2 KVA) converts a 220V supply to a fixed 110V output for equipment built to run on the lower voltage. It's wall-mounted and doesn't correct voltage fluctuations on its own.
Product Description
The Bluebird Step Down Transformer (2 KVA) works on the same primary/secondary winding principle as any transformer, with fewer turns on the secondary than the primary so the output voltage comes out lower than the input. It takes a 220V supply and delivers a fixed 110V output.
At 2 KVA, it’s sized for multiple 110V appliances, or equipment with a higher continuous draw than the smaller units in the range. It’s built for equipment that’s rated for 110V rather than the 220-240V standard household supply — imported appliances, low-voltage lighting and control circuits, and instrumentation designed around a 110V input. The enclosure is metal, wall-mounted, and rated for continuous naturally air-cooled operation, with 2 universal socket for connection.
Like any step-down transformer, it doesn’t compensate for swings in the incoming 220V supply — it just scales whatever voltage arrives at the primary down to a fixed 110V. Where the equipment also needs protection from voltage fluctuation, it’s paired with a stabilizer, which is what the Step Down AVS range is built for.
Voltage Reduction
Converts 220V input down to a fixed 110V output for equipment built to run on the lower voltage.
Efficient Power Transfer
Delivers power to the load with low losses through the winding.
Equipment Protection
Supplies the exact operating voltage the connected equipment needs, avoiding damage from running it on the wrong voltage.
Vacuum Impregnated Winding
Reduces heating and moisture ingress, extending winding life under continuous use.
Reliable Operation
Metal enclosure and wall-mount design built for continuous use.
Recommended Applications
- Imported 110V equipment and appliances
- Low-voltage lighting and control circuits
- Instrumentation and test equipment built for 110V supply
- Battery charging systems
Not Recommended For
- Correcting an unstable or fluctuating input voltage, since a step-down transformer doesn't regulate voltage on its own
- Loads that need an output voltage other than 110V, since these units are wound for a fixed 220V-to-110V ratio
- Equipment rated for 220-240V running directly, since routing it through the step-down would under-power it
