Constant Voltage Transformer

The Constant Voltage Transformer (CVT) is a static voltage stabilizer with no moving parts, built to hold output voltage steady for electronic and IT equipment. It corrects fluctuations using a ferroresonant design rather than a mechanical or servo-driven mechanism, which keeps response time fast and maintenance close to zero.

Product Description

Bluebird’s CVT takes an input voltage range of 180-260V and holds output at 220/230V within ±1%, at a response time of 30 milliseconds. Because it has no moving parts, correction happens almost instantly rather than through a motor-driven adjustment, which is what makes CVTs suited to smaller, sensitive electronic loads rather than heavy machinery.

Output waveform stays sinusoidal, with distortion under 4% at full load, and efficiency runs at approximately 90% under full load conditions. The unit operates across an ambient temperature range of -5°C to 50°C, and load power factor can range from 0.75 lag to 0.9 lead without affecting performance. Line frequency changes do have a small effect on output, roughly 1% output voltage shift for every 1% change in line frequency, so supply from a generator needs to stay within 50Hz ±1Hz for the CVT to work as intended.

No Moving Parts

Static ferroresonant design means fewer failure points and virtually no maintenance.

Fast Response

30 millisecond response time protects sensitive electronics before voltage swings reach them.

Clean Output

Sinusoidal output waveform with distortion under 4% at full load keeps connected equipment running on clean power.

Stable Regulation

Output held at 220/230V within ±1%, regardless of input fluctuation between 180-260V.

Wide Operating Range

Functions reliably across ambient temperatures from -5°C to 50°C.

Recommended Applications

  • Computers and IT equipment
  • Printers and office electronics
  • Point-of-sale systems
  • Home entertainment and electronic appliances
  • Small commercial setups with light, non-inductive loads

Not Recommended For

  • High inductive loads like motors and pumps
  • Equipment placed close to diskettes, monitors, tapes or other magnetic storage devices, since CVTs should be positioned away from these
  • Generator-fed supply where frequency variation exceeds 50Hz ±1Hz
  • Industrial machinery and heavy-duty continuous loads
