Schools, colleges, government offices and banks usually run as several buildings on one campus connection rather than a single block, and each one carries its own mix of load – a computer lab and projectors in a teaching block, a server room and EPABX in the admin block, lift motors and water pumps shared across the site. A voltage dip that a normal office shrugs off restarts a lab mid-class, drops a projector mid-lecture, or takes down whatever the server room is running, and because the buildings are spread out, a single stabilizer at the campus entry point doesn’t actually protect what’s happening at the far end of a wing.
Bluebird’s approach is to size a main line stabilizer to each building’s own sub-panel rather than the whole campus on one unit, so a new block added later just needs its own unit rather than a re-sizing of the original. Server rooms and computer labs that need tighter protection get a dedicated stabilizer on top of the building’s main line unit. Both use electronic tap-switching, correcting voltage by switching transformer taps rather than a motor, so there’s close to no delay, and both are tested to IS:8448:1989.
